Habitat For Humanity
Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit housing organization based on Christian principles. There is no profit and no interest charged on the houses. Churches, businesses and individuals donate money, land, materials and food. Houses are constructed mainly with donated labor which greatly decreases the cost of the house.
Habitat homeowners are chosen without discrimination, based on need, ability to pay the mortgage and willingness to partner which includes working on their and other Habitat houses.
Wise County Habitat is building their third house. It is located in Laural Trails subdivision in Norton. The bulk of the labor on this house is being donated by Wallen’s Ridge State Prison Staff, who are rich in building experience and enthusiasm.
